The Apthorp, a historic condominium apartment building, occupies the full block between Broadway and West End Avenue and West 78th and West 79th streets. It was designated a New York City landmark in 1969, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. As the base building engineers for the Apthorp, Lilker renovated, restored, refurbished and upgraded the building’s systems and completed nearly 50 private apartments in the building. Included in these restorations of the typically 2,500 sq. ft. each unit are: under perimeter console heat pump units within the existing radiator enclosures; pressure booster systems; UV air filtration systems and radiant floor heating. Lilker’s Technology Solutions Group provided services for audiovisual and IT cabling infrastucture. We designed all of the systems to maintain the 100-year-old architectural design features while upgrading the units to accommodate new, modern appliances.
