This new, same day 28,000 sq. ft. Ambulatory Surgery Center includes four initial operating room suites and two future suites, recovery room, pre-op, exam area, waiting and administrative spaces. The MEP challenge was to create the new center within a structure not designed to accommodate stringent HVAC, fire safety and electrical requirements of a state of the art medical facility. Lilker installed separation barrier ceilings to isolate light and air coming in from the roof, minimizing their impact on the space. Independent rooftop mounted equipment zoned for individual space rather than large chiller plants were utilized to increase efficiency and reduce costs. An exterior mounted emergency generator was installed to conserve interior space. The 350 kW diesel generator is weatherproof and has its own fuel supply.
