Lilker Associates provided engineering design services for the multi-phased expansion and upgrade of the 30,000 sq. ft. Emergency Department, Morgue, new Observation Unit, new Isolation Rooms, Triage rooms, Treatment Bays, Nursing Stations, Trauma Room, Pharmacy and Secure Holding Rooms. A new Radiology Department Suite with CT Machine and X-Ray rooms was added to the ED. The existing waiting area was expanded into the new structure. The project was designed to be built in three phases keeping the remaining parts of the existing ED active. Lilker designed new MEP infrastructure to support new layout, including air handling units, multiple exhaust systems, upgrade of existing normal power distribution, refurbishment of existing emergency generator system to incorporate the essential electrical branches (three branches), Steam pressure reducing station PRV and heat exchanger package, fire protection distribution with three individual zone valves provided for each construction phase. New fire alarm, medical gas, nurse call systems, each complete with new head-end equipment and distribution were provided for each construction zone and phase.
