Post Super Storm Sandy, this 17-story building not far from the East River was flooded and needed new transformers, boilers and other equipment. Water marks on the lobby’s white marble walls reached two to three feet above the floor line. Eight million gallons of water had been pumped out of the basement. Lilker handled restoration of temporary and permanent infrastructure for the entire 350,000 sq. ft. building’s MEP/FP systems. Tenants include the United States Fund for UNICEF and the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Lilker’s NYC office welcomed UNICEF’s displaced 15-member customer service team, providing desk space and office services during the building’s down time.
