Junior Lighting Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Perform architectural lighting design for projects of all sizes as part of a flexible team under the direction of department head.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and BIM (Revit) and capable of preparing lighting design documents. Will receive training to further develop skills.
  • Preparation of lighting plans, specifications, control strategies, pricing, mockups, sketches, field reports, and light focusing for projects.
  • Preparation of electric and daylighting design calculations.
  • Familiarity with electrical and life safety code compliance, and preparation of compliance documentation.
  • Coordination with other departments and trades.
  • Review shop drawings, conduct site visits during construction phases, and prepare written punch list of open items.

Experience:

  • Degree in Architecture, Lighting, or Interior Design.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in architectural design. Experience in lighting design a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with AGI32 lighting calculation software a plus.
  • Lighting Certification (LC) a plus.
  • Experience with lighting control specification a plus.
  • LEED or WELL Building Standard Accreditation a plus.

Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Work with one of DC’s most cutting edge, respected engineering firms
  • Collaborate with a team of architects, engineers, and owners
  • Design and coordination of ductwork and piping systems, layout of mechanical equipment rooms, performing load calculations, and providing construction administration services
  • Support the development of designs, specifications, systems narratives, and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes
  • Prepare basic deliverables including calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Design mechanical systems including calculations of heating and cooling loads
  • Select and layout mechanical equipment such as pumps, chillers, fans and boilers
  • Keep Project Manager/ Sr. Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services

Experience:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4 year institution
  • 2-4 years of experience in the design of HVAC building systems for commercial, multi-family, institutional, and education buildings including site survey experience
  • Construction administration experience including construction site visits, submittal reviews, and RFI responses
  • Plumbing and Fire Protection design experience a plus but not required
  • PE preferred

Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design electrical power distribution, branch circuiting, lighting controls, emergency power and fire alarm requirements for various building types
  • Design and create electrical system layouts and schematics for telecommunication systems, data systems, public address systems, intrusion alarm systems, grounding, lightning protection systems and life safety systems such as fire detection/alarm

Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4 year institution
  • 2-4 years of experience in the design of Electrical building systems for commercial, multi-family, institutional, and education buildings including site survey experience

  • PE desirable

Energy Modeler / Energy Engineer

As an Energy Modeler / Energy Engineer at Lilker Energy Solutions, you will join our growing Energy team and you will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects and systems. We are firm believers in having a team with diverse skill sets, so this position will also get training in commissioning and energy audits and have the opportunity on working on those projects in addition to traditional energy models.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with one of NYC & DC’s most cutting edge, respected engineering firms
  • Collaborate with a team of architects, engineers, and owners
  • Preparation of the Reports
  • Attend owner/contractor meetings at construction site to monitor progress and resolve field conditions
  • Understand local laws and policies as they relate to energy usage (Local Law 97 and BEPS)
  • Utilize models to inform design strategies
  • Use energy modeling to predict energy savings for various energy auditing measures
  • Support the development of designs, specifications, systems narratives, and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes
  • Keep Project Manager/ Sr. Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services

Experience:

  • Background in sustainable design or mechanical engineering
  • 4-8 years experience with building simulation and energy efficient design
  • Knowledge of USGBC, IgCC, ASHRAE guidelines and programs
  • Experience creating complete models and submitting them to USGBC for LEED
  • LEED Accreditation a plus
  • Experience with eQuest and/or Trane Trace 3D Plus

Lilker Associates is looking for talented mid-level and senior electrical engineers in the various design sectors.                         

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Electrical Design and industry standards of all building electrical system types; specifically on electrical service upgrades, power distribution, generator infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting control and low voltage systems, etc.
  • Prepare design calculations, due diligence reports, specifications, agency filing and construction documents for projects.
  • Knowledge of all applicable building and electrical codes.
  • Attend owner/contractor meetings at construction sites to monitor progress and approve shop drawings.
  • Prepare observation reports, minutes of meeting, utility load letters, punch lists and resolve field conditions.
  • Respond to governmental agency comments.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with a team and on other assignments as required.

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years experience in electrical design.  Knowledge of specific airport terminal, NYC School Construction Authority (SCA), Infrastructure, high rise building, various governmental agencies and healthcare design experience a plus
  • EIT or NYS Professional Engineering License preferred
    LEED Accreditation and project management capabilities a plus.
  • Familiar with production in MS Office, AutoCAD and/or Revit.
