Lilker EMO provided energy modeling services for the addition to the Goldring/Woldenberg Complex on the campus of Tulane University. The addition is a 47,000 sq. ft. facility including classrooms and offices as well as a large atrium/common area. Designed according to the principles of energy efficiency and sustainability, the addition was designed to meet the requirements for certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) 2009 rating system.
By utilizing increased levels of insulation, efficient lighting and glazing as well as extensive shading and daylight harvesting, the building demonstrates a 17% energy cost savings compared to a similar building designed to ASHRAE 90.1 minimum specifications.
