St. Augustine Hall, St. John’s University
St. Augustine Hall on the Queens campus of St. John’s University has historically been the home of the campus’ library. While the upper floors still function in this capacity, the 27,000 sq. ft. second floor has now been converted into office and meeting space for the College of Professional Studies. The layout includes workstations for 140 staff including perimeter private offices, conference rooms, a pantry, and collaboration spaces for better faculty and student interaction. MEP/FP systems design are included in this project for 7,500 sq. ft. of swing space to be fit out in the future as state-ofthe art Homeland Security, Cyber Security, and Computer Simulation labs. Additional infrastructure upgrades included two new 10,000 CFM HVAC air handler units for a variable-air-volume system, and sprinkler system infrastructure with a 30,000 gallon gravity tank sized to eventually provide coverage throughout the entire building.
