Intrepid Air & Space Museum
The Fighting "I"
Pier 86, New York, NY
The U.S.S. Intrepid aircraft carrier, commissioned in 1943, was a backbone of the U.S. Navy from World War II through Vietnam and is now a National Historic Landmark operating as the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum at Pier 86 on NYC’s Hudson River. The Museum’s exhibits include over 30 aircraft, several satellites, an Apollo space capsule and numerous state-of-the-art military exhibits. The entire carrier required new HVAC, electrical and fire protection systems. The design and construction work was carefully phased to maintain the operation of the Museum while the work progressed.
