Built in 1881-1883, 5 Beekman was the first high-rise building in New York City. It has been converted, together with an adjacent site on Nassau Street, into a luxury hotel consisting of 285 guestrooms and 85 residences. The project totals approximately 340,000 sq. ft. and includes a 40+ story tower. There are two restaurants on the ground floor (4,500 sq. ft.), a cellar bar (2,200 sq. ft.), rooftop terrace and retail (3,200 sq. ft.). The hotel occupies the existing 160,000 sq. ft. The project is intended to serve as a catalyst in the transformation of the Fulton Nassau Historic District.
